direct evidence The word direct is opposed to immediate or hearsay. The term hearsay is used with referenceto what is done or written as well as to what is spoken and in the legal sense, ii rests, in part, on the veracity and competence of some other person. It can neither be given oath nor tested by cross-examination. Hence it is inadmissible and direct evidence becomes the rule. |
